The Elite Khat SACCO amalgamates into the Kenyan government’s efforts to empower, alleviate poverty and ameliorate living standards for its vulnerable and disenfranchised citizens in hard-to-reach regions in miraa growing regions.

The Sacco initiates and spearheads critical development initiatives like food security, youth empowerment and women empowerment to counter the adversely detrimental economic effects of miraa market’s closure in European countries and Somalia.

The Sacco operates in the Miraa growing zones of Meru County using an innovative, locally-led and managed development model that “right sizes” efforts, directing affordable credit products to vulnerable Miraa growing areas with the greatest need and potential for positive impact.
